Naughty Paris Updates & Corrections
Even if the information in Naughty Paris was correct when it was published, it’s inevitable that bars will close, clubs redecorate, restaurants change their menus and soirées change venues. These are the latest known changes and corrections, with some alternative suggestions. Please let us know if we’ve missed anything!
Chapter 3: Sexy You!
Etat Libre d’Orange (page 95): correction; the name was accidentally written as Libre Etat d’Orange (oops!)
La Nouvelle Athènes (page 98): address change; now at a larger space at 46 rue Lafitte, 9th, M° Le Peletier; same phone.
Autour du Christophe Robin (page 99): address change; now at Le Meurice hotel, 228 rue de Rivoli, 1st, tel 01 40 20 02 83; www.christophe-robin.com; by appointment only, Mon-Fri 10am-7pm. His pedicurist Bastien Gonzalez has relocated to London, but still comes into in Paris a few times per month: www.bastiengonzalez.com
Petite Brigitte (page 113): career change; our favorite undercover fashion journalist has hung up her stilettos for the moment, so her site is only occasionally updated. In the meantime, try Do It in Paris for your fashion fix.
L'Eclaireur (page 120): address change; the women’s boutique at Rue des Rosiers is gone (after 20 years!), but the other addresses are still open and a temporary space is at 5 Place des Vosges until the new boutique on Rue de Sévingé opens.
Chapter 4: Get in the Mood
Images de Demain (page 169): closed.
Amours, Délices et Orgues (page 173): closed.
Chapter 5: After Dark Rendez-Vous
Jaipur Bar at Hotel Vernet (page 220): redecorated; now very bright and “design” in white brick, whitewash wood paneling, and bright red velour chairs. Cute, yes, but hardly the sexy and exotic setting it once was. For a discreet rendez-vous, try the Bar Anglais at the Hôtel Raphael around the corner (17 avenue Kléber).
Black Calavados (page 228): change in menu; redone into more of a “before” lounge with black leather sofas and low tables; gourmet bar food served, but no longer full meals. Website under construction: www.blackcalavados.com
Autrement …Chez Soi (page 232): open only for private events; if you want to have a naughty dinner somewhere, try the new fetish restaurant, Le Lust (8 rue de Beauce, 3rd)
L’Etoile (page 237): name change; now called L’Arc Paris, also completely redecorated by the architect Samy Chams, reopening in late Fall 2009.
Bistro Latin (page 242): dance floor closed; the cinema and café are still open, but there are no more tango classes here.
Bobin’O (page 247): night club closed; the venue still has shows (mostly live music concerts), but not “cabaret” nor clubbing.
Au Bonheur des Dames (page 248): venue change; now around the corner at 40 rue du Colisée, 8th, same contact info. Facebook page updated more than their website: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2404123860
